Polka Time’s home station turns 10

WVMO volunteers, DJs and community media staff celebrate WVMO’s 10th anniversary at an event at San Damiano.

The home for Polka Time with DJ Shotski is WVMO-FM. The low-power station is a service by the City of Monona, Wisconsin.

Amidst the Americana music and the volunteer DJs’ carefully curated collections, WVMO provides hyperlocal announcements about local services, resources and events.

People with a passion for radio worked hard to launch the station ten years ago. Before we had a huge party on the shores of Lake Monona to celebrate, I spoke with City Cast Madison about the value of the station to those within the broadcast area and beyond.
